Talks by Kofi Annan
“Applaud us when we prevail, correct us when we fail, but above all do not let this indispensable, irreplaceable institution wither, languis or perish as a result of Member State indifference, inattention or financial starvation.”
Kofi Annan was Secretary-General of the United Nations. In 2001 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize personally and jointly with the United Nations as an organization. A native of Ghana, Annan has spent devoted most of his life to the UN. He was elected to its highest post in 1996 and is now serving his second term in office.
